Warhaus

Warhaus, Maarten Devolder’s solo project, has long been synonymous with seductive pop. On his highly anticipated fifth studio album, *The Donkey*, however, the popular Belgian singer takes an unexpected musical turn. Hypnotic lyrics, raw vocals, rhythms inspired by the South African genre Gqom, and lively grooves interwoven with grime elements give the new album a significantly wilder energy than listeners have been accustomed to so far.

*The Donkey* thus expands the world that Devoldere has gradually built under the name Warhaus. While the album *Karaoke Moon* from two years ago—which he brought to a sold-out ARCHY+ during his tour—showcased his more intimate and dreamy side, the new release focuses on greater intensity and rhythmic tension. In Prague, these two musical worlds will naturally come together. In addition to new tracks, including the lead single “The Baby,” the set will also feature songs that have become an integral part of Warhaus’s repertoire over the years of touring, including the hit “Love’s a Stranger.”

Devoldere is no newcomer to the European music scene. Fans may know him as a member of the Belgian band Balthazar, with whom he won, among other honors, two Music Industry Awards for Best Album. As Warhaus, he went on to make a name for himself and won a MIA in the Best Alternative category in 2017. In 2020, he was also honored as Best Songwriter and Composer alongside Jinte Deprez of Balthazar. The Warhaus project itself arose from the need to create music on his own terms. The Prague show will therefore not only be a presentation of the new album but also the next chapter in a project that has managed to establish an irreplaceable identity over the past few years.
